WhatsApp adds Picture-in-Picture feature on Android 8.0

WhatsApp adds Picture-in-Picture feature on Android 8.0

There’s good news for avid WhatsApp users who own Android phones. The messaging app has recently added a “Picture-in-Picture” mode for its video chat feature in Android 8.0.
Android Police reports that the mode is currently available on Android O Developer Preview for the app's 2.17.265 beta version.
The Picture-in-Picture mode is said to compress video into a floating window that can be moved around, allowing users to continue texting or doing other things while engaging in a video conversation.
Meanwhile, in WhatsApp for Android Nougat, the video freezes, although the audio remains, when a user moves back to the chat list.
Those who want to try the Picture-in-Picture mode for video need to download the WhatsApp beta program on the Play Store or manually get the latest APK from APK Mirror.

WhatsApp Beta Adds Picture-in-Picture Feature For Video Calls on Android O

One of the most popular app, WhatsApp, is working on an exciting feature that is picture-in-picture mode. WhatsApp Beta Adds Picture-in-Picture Feature For Video Calls. This feature will not be available for all devices and operating system. The reason is that this new feature will work only on Android O.
When we start a video call on Android Nougat and below and tap back, the call goes into the background. Moreover, the video gets paused and it becomes audio call and we go back to our text conversation and can do other stuff on our phone. In case of Android O, when we tap back, the video shrinks down to a floating window and we can continue your call with video. Meanwhile, we can also do other stuff like texting and using the app normally.
We can place the video window anywhere on screen. It enlarges momentarily when we tap on it then shrinks back to its normal size. And if we swipe it down, it gets dismissed. Then the call goes in the background and pauses video like on Nougat and below.
The only limitation with this app is that, it will only run on Android O. When Android O will be available for all, this new feature will be rolled out. Moreover, If you have got the Android O Dev Preview, you should be able to use this feature now.
In the recent update, WhatsApp has introduced its most awaited feature for its users. Now WhatsApp Users can Share any File Type. Earlier users can only send audio, video files, documents, images and GIFs. But now users can send any file type using whatsApp.

WhatsApp to roll out the recall feature soon

Since the past few months, we have been hearing about the WhatsApp recall feature. It is the ability to just recall or unsend the messages those were actually meant to be sent.
Well, it looks like we are drawing closer towards the roll out of this recall feature on WhatsApp. We say this as the Twitter handle @WABetaInfo that reveals the details regarding the upcoming WhatsApp features has posted a screenshot of the alleged recall feature on the WhatsApp Web version number 0.2.5370.
The source is known for posting information about the upcoming WhatsApp features and improvements before the actual roll out of the same. It was the same source that tipped about the plans of the Facebook-owned company to introduce the recall feature in the future updates. The screenshot that has been posted now showing the same makes us believe that the roll out of the feature should be imminent.
Lately, WhatsApp rolled out several new features to the Android, iOS and Windows Phone versions of its app. The notable ones are the ability to share any file type, the shortcuts to invoke the text formatting options, bundling of photos into albums, etc.
Besides these, WhatsApp is also rumored to roll out a PiP video call feature. The WhatsApp beta app with the version number 2.17.265 is said to bring the picture-in-picture or pop-out video calling feature to the Android users. With this feature, users are believed to take advantage of the platform to do both video calls and text conversations at the same time without interrupting the call.

LG G4 Android 7.0 Nougat update begins rolling out in South Korea

After a very long wait, LG has finally started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its 2015 flagship smartphone, the G4. For now, the Nougat update is only available for LG G4 units in South Korea. Even in South Korea, the OTA update is not available yet. The Nougat update is only available via the LG Bridge app.
While LG hasn’t given out any ETA, we do expect the Nougat update for the G4 to spread to other regions in the coming weeks. Major Android updates are usually rolled out in phases, with the initial rollout restricted to a single region. Sometimes it takes manufacturers up to two or three months to finish the rollout process, so Indian LG G4 owners will need to be a little patient.
If you have a South Korean LG G4 unit, you can also flash the KDZ images of the update that are now available to download over at XDA Developers. However, it should be noted that KDZ images are available only for the F500S, F500L, and F500K variants of the G4. In South Korea, the OTA update should be rolling out shortly, although it may not be available for all G4 variants sold in the country at once.
Since the update has only just started hitting G4 units in South Korea, we have no info regarding the exact size of the update or the changes included with the update. While we don’t expect to see all the new software features that LG offers with the G6, we are pretty sure that LG has included all the basic Nougat goodies. Some of the features that you can look forward to include bundled notifications, Data Saver, new emojis, improved Doze mode, and more. The update is likely to include the latest security patch update as well.

ANDROID NOUGAT UPDATE STATUS FOR LG G4, LG V10, SAMSUNG GALAXY A3 AND J7 MODELS

After being spotted in benchmark listings, it seems like the anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update for certain non-flagship Samsung Galaxy smartphones will be on its way soon. LG’s 2015 flagship mobile phone, the LG G4, on the other hand, is starting to receive the Nougat OS. Moreover, a U.S. carrier has begun rolling out the current Android iteration to its LG V10 units.
Aside from the Android 7.0 Nougat OS, T-Mobile’s latest software for the LG V10 with version number H90130b also comes with fixes to the issue with the E911 timer. With this fix, there shouldn’t be LG V10 problems anymore when someone is utilizing the emergency service. Android Headlines also noted that the release notes from the U.S. carrier also listed “Google Software” as one of the enhancements. Other performance improvements are also included.
The update is a hefty one as it is 1,366 MB in size. Thus, prior to downloading and installing the Nougat firmware over the air, T-Mobile subscribers with LG V10 phones need to check that the device has remaining storage space first. Also, since this is a huge download, having a strong Wi-Fi connection is vital. An OTA notification should pop up once the firmware is ready for the device or LG V10 owners can do it manually by heading to the phone’s Settings menu.
Given the LG G4’s age, there could be owners of this phone who have been cynical about the release of a major Android update for their 2015 smartphone. But it’s finally here – yes, the Nougat update has been released for the LG mobile device.
Android Authority shared that the firmware has been spotted in Korea. Remarkably, the rollout actually came right on schedule as reports from months ago shared that it is set to arrive at some point during the third quarter of 2017.

Meanwhile, a few of Samsung Galaxy mid-range smartphones should be receiving its Nougat flavor soon, too! According to GSM Arena, Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 with model number SM-A320FL and the Galaxy J7 2016 (SM-J710F/DS) running on Android 7.0 have already received their respective Wi-Fi certifications courtesy of Wi-Fi Alliance. In addition to this, Nougat-powered 2015 tablet Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (SM-T350) has been Wi-Fi-certified as well.
Are you looking forward to the arrival of the Android Nougat OS to any of these LG and Samsung Galaxy mobile devices? The Inquisitr will keep you in the loop for more Nougat-related firmware rollouts.
